My obsession with patterns started when I first traveled out of the country. Phone photography was more challenging than I expected compared to using a DSLR camera. I always thought that a phone camera is too basic because of its auto settings and features. But its basic feature is what makes it more complicated. Maybe because I was used to changing the aperture, ISO, shutter speed, and so on (though you can also use a manual setting on a phone camera) in a DSLR camera for different situations or settings or maybe because I haven’t done photography for quite sometime now. But nonetheless, I still enjoy taking shots of anything. What’s good about phone camera is that it’s very convenient to use. It’s a point-and-shoot camera so you just have to look for your subject and click! And for editing the shots, there are really good apps that you can download such as VSCO and Snapseed. I have tried using both but for a more professional editing app, I would recommend Snapseed since it’s kinda like Adobe Photoshop. But the thing is you shouldn’t do much editing. You just enhance.
So going back to my obsession with patterns, I am an OC person. OC stands for Obsessive-Compulsive which relates to a personality style characterized by perfectionism, indecision, conscientiousness, concern with detail, rigidity and inhibition (source: dictionary.com). So having said that, I am attracted to things that look neat or organized or anything that looks balanced and/or repetitive. Anything that meets my standard of OC-ness. These patterns satisfy my OC problems and because of this, I enjoy going out now. I feel the need to explore and travel. Unlike before, I just want to stay inside caving and do artsy stuffs and browse and browse and browse. But now I think there is more out there. It’s good sometimes if you’re being observant and sometimes give a little bit of your shit to anything. You might find somethings that are worth sharing and just STOP taking selfies and put them up on your social media accounts every fucking day. I mean, just give it a break. People need some inspiration in life. Give them something other than your thick brows and Kylie Jenner lips. And also stop spreading fake news and negativity just because the world is kinda shitty right now including your political views and the like. Hey nobody wants to hear you are Anti-Trump or Anti-Duterte. Give those people a chance to do their thing. Let’s not get involved and just be informed. Besides, we can do better. Let us all be a better citizen you know and just spread ART. Let’s inspire each other.
But really, what I wanted to say is please do enjoy my photos and spread ART. Because ART IS LOVE.
